An investment group led by Richard Li, one of Hong Kong's richest men recently bought the Fisker loan.
What is the status of Fisker? I read where the DOE who ran the auction, required bidders to agree to promote the manufacture and engineering of green cars in the US. Li's group beat Fritz Nols AG and another investment group that included Chinese parts supplier Wanxiang and former General Motors CEO Bob Lutz.
Doesn't have to be. Replace engine with more dense batteries. They could move from the rack of A123 lower-energy storage batteries to some hot cells like Panasonics or newer LG Chems and ramp up the EV nature of the car. Remember, the Karma was designed 4 years ago or more. They do not have to use the same recipe. If Li puts enough cash into it and works out the design aspects of the battery capacity and motors and so forth, they could produce quite a nice BEV.
