Russian troops were in Crimea last week. This did not move the market. Now it is formalized, it becomes a political issue similar to Syria. Ukraine is a nation of 45 mln people with a horrible GDP. It is not material to the economics of America. Ukrainians should be allowed to choose their destiny. It may have to be separated into two parts: EU Ukraine and Russian Ukraine. The Russian speaking Ukrainians must review the lessons of East and West Germany and North and South Korea before they elect to go with Russia. Economic growth under communism is much inferior to capitalism.
Tensions are continuing to build in the Ukraine. It's far too early to write this off as being nothing. If things escalate then they will inevitably #$%$ world markets. This can potentially turn out to be much more than just a political issue.
"oooh, you must have bought PUTS or shorting hoping for any bad news, sorry."
oooh, you must have calls? You may have read enough by now about the market this year being different. People will not be as antsy to dive into irrational momentum stocks. 2014 Investors will be more sensitive to what 'they' think is an inflated market. 'They' believe that this bubble market will suddenly respond to an unexpected trigger as bubbles do. This bubble stock definitely so. I HOPE I make money from my puts, I do not hope for war. I HOPE I quit posting today.. a waste of my time
( and yours? have a good Sunday ... ).
(( Is it true that Russia is sending ships to Cuba? They do not respect this president, not one bit. ))
Do you respect Obama? I don't.
BTW thanks to Bush, Obama and the Congress the USA has no legitimate objection to Russia invading other countries. The US Govt did it. Putin asked his parliament for permission to invade and they gave it to him. Just like the USA invading and occupying Afghanistan and Iraq.
Agreed. Thus is something actually important. An engineer friend of mine, his name is Ivan, believe it or not, is very worried about his mother in the Ukraine. Things are very scary there. ... I expect the market to be down too because of anxieties..uncertainty is never good for the market.
