The major competition of 3D systems (TDSC) is Stratasys (SSYS). What are the competative advantages of TDCS over SSYS? Which company possesses more intellectual property rights over other or are their technologies different?
    Thanks for your help!

    • The basic technologies are totally different, so there is no comparing their relative intellectual property rights.

TDSC is well know for having the highest accuracy rapid prototype parts, but the material the parts are made from tends to be relatively fragile.

SSYS' claim to fame is that their product can make rapid prototypes out of ABS, which is a plastic material that your telephone is probably made of - pretty dang tough, but less accurate than TDSC parts.

The lower end of both their respective product lines is in the area called "concept modelling" or "3D printing." This is a very immature field at this point, but should have large growth potential. In this area I prefer the SSYS technology, but they had problems with their initial product offering (Genesis).

I think they are both solid companies, but I don't play the stock market (yet).
