Will Market Spank AIRN in the Morning?

The gap between reporting a 13.2 cents loss per revenue dollar for Q3 and becoming profitable in Q4 strikes me as rather large.

    • teamrep I like WiMAX/WBB area, do you have any other stock in this area beside airn & alvr. thanks

    • I have a very small position but my comments were based on what I see happening in the market and the TA. If you are in it for the long haul then why worry? You should be buying the trend in WiMAX/WBB and there should be nothing to be upset about long term. Short term is noise and that is a guess just like I stated it. i don't care that much if you think I am self -serving because it doesn't matter long term anyway.

    • unacceptable?????????? no one said they were going to break even this qtr. what i see, is they are definetly heading in that general direction. especially hinting about several more big contracts coming up. no worries here about where this stock is going :)

    • Teamrep and others, what is your take on my comments? Anyone agree or disagree?

      Here is what mgmt did:
They viewed the 3rd Qtr as the last quarter where the street is not going to expect them to break even or make a profit. They revalued obsolete inventory, accrued extra expenses, held back some revenues for the 4th Qtr. Nothing illegal-it's done everyday.
Basically they did a clean the house of everything bad before we roll forward.
It is done all the time.
Relax and they will flourish going forward.

    • cut out the inventory charge and one-time SOX expenses and you'd be at the .04 range. AIRN should've reported it that way b/c its evident that most investors aren't sophisticated enough to understand w/o help.

    • your message makes clear the reason for the downgrade, this is still a long term winner in a growing area

    • Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined selling this stock today...but earnings to me were unacceptable. A 9 cent loss "on a march to profitability" just doesn't cut it. It's not that the sky is falling, I just don't see it holding the same generous valuations the market was giving it. Revenue came in a low end of expectations. Additionally, although the P.R. said they still expect profitability 4q, I did not get that impression at all from the C.C. Actually, I believe they made it quite clear that it would be very tough.

    • Where is the bad news????? They'll be breakeven next Q and revenues grew by 320% yoy. The best part is that they aren't valued like a stock growing that fast. This crap about not being profitable this Q is absurd. They are headed in the right direction and that is all that matters!

Probably because Alvarion's share price has been performing worse than Airspan over the last year:

And far worse over the last three months:
