    Cobasys Inside?

Said to have NiMH batteries inside, possibly Cobasys.

Found it on Mayor Push's favorite website:

The Saturn Vue is using Cobasys batteries, so just how likely is it that the Saturn Aura will not use them? Jeeez.

Both of these vehicles use a BAS (Belt-Alternator-System) and it is VERY likely that GM has now, for economies of scale, settled on Cobasys to supply the batteries for all of their BAS-equipped vehicles. And, GM has stated before and as quoted in your link see below -- that they intend broad use of the BAS system.

And, lets not forget that GM intends to introduce full-hybrids within about another year. My bet is that they will also use Cobasys for those vehicles, which will use the hybrid system jointly being developed by GM and Daimler-Chrysler. Does any sensible person really doubt that Cobasys has good reason to expand their mfg space and equipment, as recently revealed?

<GM is using the BAS-based Greenline hybrid system to try to deliver a simple hybrid architecture flexible enoughand at a sufficiently low costto implement globally on a broad spectrum of both powertrains and vehicles.

GM has not yet announced performance or fuel economy numbers for the Saturn Aura Greenline Hybrid sedan, but that should come soon as the car is supposed to be on sale by the end of 2006.>
