    Rating Trend: Up Up

    Today's Overall Ratings:
    Up: 10 | Down: 13 | New: 36
Goldman Sachs reiterated their Buy rating and raised their price target on Mosaic (NYSE: MOS) from $67 to $71 following weaker-than-expected Q3 results. The firm said the stock should be bought on weakness.

The miss was driven by weaker Phosphate margins with high-cost raw materials taking longer to flow through. They cut their Q4 EPS estiamtes from $1.52 to $1.00, to reflect weaker revenue guidance in both P and K with near-term inventory pressures taking a bit longer to resolve.

Goldman is maintaining their bullish view on the stock based on a "positive earnings inflection expected in FY13 and the opportunity to unlock value over time".

    • From looking at the charts and the TA indicators you can see MOS forming a strong foundation to break above $70.

    • Knowledge is power and GS has both. They know what theyre talking about.

One with knowledge of the actual numbers quickly sees the disparity for the 'miss' was mainly caused by analysts bumping up their expectations late last year too high (we all should have already known that distributors curtailed their buying for this season bcause they did not wish to repeat the terrible over supply problems they put themselves into in 2009) and also there was a $0.08/shr one time currency translation, and the 'miss' was a whole $0.10/shr, whoaa, whatever. Mosaic will do just fine in the coming months and by the end of the year I should think their earnings will be on track and the trading of the stock will be in a much more healthy mode; the Cargill overhang has kept would be investors out of this name for quite a while now. Its obvious there will be downward pressure in a stock when there are no bidders present. With enough time that should change. Of course if the market tanks, all of these will tank with it, that is known, but in a healthy market, MOS should do just fine.

    • Wow!! Dat's gud! They know what's gonna happen in 2013. Let's buy for 2013
