    OT other battery company

It's interesting, but the stock has not moved in a very long time...kind of like watching paint dry.

    • John Peterson on Seeking Alpha thinks quite highly of ABAT, both their business, and that he thinks they are quite frugal. He likes their E2W (Electric Bikes) position.

The fact that the stock has done nothing for quite a while is actually pretty good given the huge negative sentiment against Chinese small caps and RTOs.

As for their cash level, they seem to roll up other companies fairly often, so I wouldn't count on them keeping it very long. Generally they seem to be smart deals ... "roll ups" shouldn't be read as negative in this case, at least not so far.

    • Seems like every other week some "research" company comes out with a piece saying a China company is scam and they have no cash..etc etc..ONP, CCME, it happens a lot. I hate to see it but the stock reacts and people get burned..

    • True enough. But you gotta wonder how long a Co w/ this much cash will be over looked. I am wondering why. Coursonc has been touting cash heavy Chinese firms of late. Always an interesting poster to read. ABAT is not on his list, but seems to fit his profile.

I thought it interesting that their focus was on batteries for entry level electric vehicles. Seems to be a sound strategy for the next few years. Especially as the inverse quota for rare earths continues and increases

      • I know that the cash to debt ratio of Chinese companies often looks very tempting but think about how this ratio often exists.

Most of these companies are state-owned Chinese companies traded on US markets through commercially provided "shell" listings.

The debt ratio reflects really only the fact that the government holds no debt on the company.

Also, they don't have anything remotely resembling accounting standards, so unless the company has the services of RESPECTED western auditors you can assume that many of the numbers are literally made up to attract investors.

If the company fails the government absorbs its remaining resources through a simple vertical acquisition and still comes out ahead with all the investor income. Seriously, be careful, really careful, about this entire market.
