Senator Landreau suggested allowing drilling to continue during moratorium to depths shy of levels that will hit deep deposits. probably a very good idea.
Now, how about 1 safety bore located between multiple drilling rigs to be shared by several rigs. They can turn the bore as needed, so why not share the cost?
last time I was in the gulf was on a cruise ship and at night I never saw so many lights....dunno how they manage to dodge all those rigs out there.
seems like they could meed the needs of safety and still control costs. I heard in Norway and the canadian north they require second shafts and it's apparently still cost effective to drill there cause they're doing it.
Dunno why we should settle for less and suffer as a result. I'd rather see higher gas prices. That's gonnna happen eventually anyway.
