This is going to 30+ very soon

Silver is going to take a huge dump. Opened position today at 21.44 with 300 shares. My guess is this thing goes to 30 in short order, as the silver sell off begins and picks up steam.

    • Have to agree with you there!! I'm almost stopped out.

    • Most likely not going to $30 today!
      LOL!!

    • My interpretation is that the first quarter of 2011 was the record quarter of sales for all time despite significantly higher prices

You are correct - another possible interpretation would be the January Sales were the peak and a (?) breakdown in demand started at almost the same time the price started it's spike upward.

    • You have a valid point. We probably have different interpretations about the significance of the Jan-March 2011 ASE sales numbers. Here are the top 15 months in all years:

Top Fifteen Silver Eagle Bullion Coin Monthly Sales
      1 January 2011 6,422,000
      2 November 2010 4,260,000
      3 December 1986 3,696,000
      4 May 2010 3,636,500
      5 January 2010 3,592,500
      6 March 2010 3,381,000
      7 February 2011 3,240,000
      8 October 2010 3,150,000
      9 March 2009 3,132,000
      10 June 2010 3,001,000
      11 July 2010 2,981,000
      12 October 2009 2,939,000
      13 July 2009 2,810,000
      14 December 2009 2,773,500
      15 March 2011 2,767,000

My interpretation is that the first quarter of 2011 was the record quarter of sales for all time despite significantly higher prices.

    • The mint is supposed to offer a "proof" version of the 5 oz coins, SOMETIME, maybe whenever they get some silver. I'd really like to have the Yosemite and Grand Canyon coins, but if I can't get them from the mint, I doubt if I'll pay the marked up price. Cool coins, though.

    • I was on the waiting list at Modern Coin Mart .com for the Mint State 70 of that very 5-coin set, figuring each of the coins to have *maybe* a 10x premium at release. Silver was just reaching $30 so I wondered if $300 an MS-70 coin, or $1,500 guess was too high.

Whew, what an unreal shortfall that estimate was, huh? The set was $4,500! No way, Jose, for me. Even the $1,500 I viewed as pushing the limits. Too much confetti once 10 years of 5-state sets accrue given that kind of starting point cost!!!

    • Check out these handsome coins, which sold out instantly when the mint offered the set for $900 a few months ago:

    • The Mint is, and has been, having trouble procuring sufficient silver to meet coin demand. And the Coin Modernization Act gives them the legal authority to change the composition of any coin. Nickels are almost surely history, in the present composition of 3.75 gm copper and 1.25 gm nickel. Melt value of a nickel today is 7 cents. You probably are right - but I did notice the AE sales at the US Mint have been down in March from February and in February from January - this is one of the most popular ways retail holds physical silver - shouldn't those be continuing to climb unless some buyers are out of the game having bought enough at these prices - Just askin?

    • Ignoring EVERYTHING you just blatheRED YOUrself, my response to you, Thom, is, Why are you a hypocrite regarding English, grammar and composition when you clearly are guilty of similar errors also, misspelling a few very Common and Basic terms? |>ickhead, check your record throughout this thread!

Secondly, since you're dealing with one of THE maestros of mashing and mincing the anti-silver PAPER/DERIVATIVES JUNK in which you've wagered and whopping and *convincing* 300 shares, you WILL treat me 100% respectfully even though I shall henceforth refer to you as Mr. FLUNKIE. For you, Thom, need to Thoroughly review the NEOPHYTE SLOP you wrote in your opening post, analyze it for the rash assumptions you've concluded, demonstrating the _acumen_ (sic) of a GRADE F INVESTOR.

Take that geek boy, FATHEAD avator and poop on it, 'cause your destiny is that for stepping onto the tracks with such Flawed Philosophy. I must rescind my best wishes for your trade to "fare well." Seeing you've written your expectations for $30 reduced to Maybe getting shaken at $24, I'm pretty confident you'll soon be locking in your ~$500 stop loss when ZSL drifts under $20.

      Farewell, Flunkie!

LMAO @ the Insanity of this: >>>Silver is going to take a huge dump. Opened position today at 21.44 with 300 shares. My guess is this thing goes to 30 in short order, as the silver sell off begins and picks up steam.<<<
