I don't view these comments as "split-negative".
Even if it were true, he cannot say anything to the affect of "Very timely question. We will be voting on a split at the next BOD meeting."
The first thing that we should look at are the shares outstanding vs. the float. Are there enough shares on the shelf, to do a split without a shareholder vote.
Authorization of more shares may have dilutive connotations....As several here have stated their positions against splits, many may not want to authorize more shares. It would definitely dilute the dividend payout, IMO.
