Those of you who thought that the culture of Enron ended when their logo sculpture was sold and their offices were cleaned out, are missing Enron's greatest achievement: The Enron Presidency.
The same principles of hustling and fraud that allowed Ken Lay to parlay an undistinguished pipeline company into a Fortune 50 colossus are on display in Bush's imperial White House. Crooked leverage of all kinds is applied to domesic and foreign politicians to smooth the path for Bush policies. Secret deals are cooked up monthly, now in the form of soon-to-be-declared wars against other Arab states. The press is pressured by a combination of favorable access and retaliatory threats.
Bush was schooled in the arts of fraud and hustling by Kenny Boy Lay. He has enjoyed the same initial success, but he will end in the same miserable failure. Unfortunately, this failure will cost blood as well as treasure.
And these are the people you think need to be in charge of the United States?
To me, these are the true "Ugly Americans".
Well Hell. I believe we all new that. But thanks for putting the nail in the coffin. He is not what he wants us to believe he is. Just more information dicrediting himself and his posts.
The synopsis was obviously cut and pasted. Why would I want to invent a synopsis? I have seen the movie but I haven't read the book. Most importantly, I grasp the meaning of the term "Ugly American." Do you?
Bush is the Ugly President of the Ugly Americans. He represents the fine citizens who proposed filling the Statue of Liberty with explosives and dropping it on France.
"Synopsis: Harrison MacWhite has just been named ambassador to the (fictional) Southeast Asian country of Sarkhan, but may regret taking the job. When he arrives there, MacWhite discovers a country in turmoil, and he can't help becoming involved in the nation's incendiary politics. Furthermore, MacWhite's naivete -- and cockiness -- only make things worse...
stillcenter posted the above, leading one to believe this was something he alone thought up and posted. It is almose verbatim from a review in the link listed below. It seems he isn't as well "educated" as he would have us believe. Just likes to pretend that he is.
The "Ugly American" is a common phrase among educated people. It is the title of a book published in 1954 which gave a fictionalized account of bungling US cold war policy in Asia that anticpated the disasters of Vietnam. In 1963, the book was made into a film starring Marlon Brando. Here is a synopsis:

Educated people choose phrases that have the resonance of multiple layers of meaning. Proles need to have an orange button flashing on their TV that says CONDITION ORANGE. Bush and Rove know how to play the proles.
The reason he, and I think you are not an American is because of your choice of words.
Ugly America wants the President to be a good liar. That is why Nixon is still much admired and why Carter is scorned. As long as Bush is considered a successful liar, he will be supported by the ugly mob.
An American would not use verbage such as Ugly America or ugly mod. Sounds like an interpretation of a Middle eastern term.
-->The reason you think I am not an American is because I am an educated person.
No, that's not the reason I think you aren't American. That's the reason I think you're an
You love to sit high upon your stool of "education", when in truth you know very little expect what has been spoon fed to you.
