HP got beaten up with the last two CEOs, who are external ones. Now is the time to boost employee morale. Todd/B is hurd's blueboy and hence will not be favored by the BOD. Levermore lacks the star qualities. Then the only choice is the printer boss VJ, who is very popular with the employees. if the BOD walks the talk on code of conduct and the company values, my thought is...
"the next CEO is VJ"
what u say? serious discussions only and no bashing please
Thanks for the replies folks. It seems like you guys don't like any of the internal candidates except one or two. Basically do I conclude that there is a need to inject some innovation into the company and this can be successfully driven by some one outside who is not in the same mould as the current leadership.
HP had much more technologies compared to Apple, but Apple overtook them. Engineering alone is not enough, cost cutting also not the answer. The new CEO need to combine these qualities and invest in innovation.
I agree. hp need a guy who can drive innovation. but for now, he need to clear the mess created by MH as below-
1. integrate EDS and Palm. Not many are sure why be bought Palm.
2. Lift employee morale
3. Give back the pay cut :-)
4. Increase back R&D $ to pre-hurd era
5. bring back hpway
good luck hp!
Employee and shareholder friendly, non-greedy, truthful type who puts the overpaid execs in their place for the sake of those of you who work there, and the stock price. I have to cover sometime and hold to see, then maybe sell on the hype if it is another loser like fiorina, and hurd.
IF Jeffy Shilling gets released from his federal penetentiary domicile as his conviction could be overturned and no retrial is on the horizon, he might fit into HP's mismanagement team as CEO.
Anybody remember his outstanding leadership at ENRON? Took the shareprice up to $85 per share. He was the head of the Smartest Guys in The Room! If memory serves, ENRON was the seventh highest American corporation based upon capitalization value. That's what my broker told me as he advised me to buy ENRON during its "correction." Know anybody who is an expert and success at catching falling knives?
Let's urge the HP Board of Directors to rehabilitate Jeffy by making him CEO of the corporation. LOL....
Who ever it is, I hope the board used the 100 rule.
Don't pay compensation more than 100 times your lowest paid employee.
If you paid Hurd $40,000,000 then would you pay $400,000 for a janitor, of course not.
Which shows you should not be paying one person that much to begin with.
Let every employee share in the success as well as the hard times.
A decade of cuts from two overpaid CEOs has drained employee moral and output.
