Why the right can't undestand their loss
When you spend 4 years convincing yourself that the President is an alien, a subversive, a criminal, a usurper, a communist, a nazi, an islamic fundamentalist, in short, the Devil himself....what does it say about YOU that the public prefers him?
Mitt Romney is the tall handsome white guy with the Mt. Rushmore profile. He's SUPPOSED to win the battle, get the girl, defeat the bad guy, and ride off triumphantly into the sunset, like Ronald Reagan. But he didn't. The sknny dark-skinned guy with big ears and a funny name took home the big prize. In the Hollywood fantasy in which the right has spent the past 4 years, that's not supposed to happen. If the 2008 election was "The Empire Strikes Back" 2012 was supposed to be "Return of the Jedi". Only the Jedi didn't return and the Emperor is more in charge than ever.
There are some encouraging signs that the Republican Party is waking up and preparing to act like a modern-day political party instead of some fantasy cabal out of "Atlas Shrugged". I am modestly hopeful that John Boehner can send Eric Cantor to stand in the corner while he works out a deal with Obama that, quite frankly, both parties and the country deperately need. We're not there yet but the looming fiscal cliff brings to mind the wise words of Samuel Johnson: "The sight of the gallows wonderfully quickens the mind."-

The real question is: Why does the left prefer socialism and tyranny to America?
The answer is because huge centralized govt power can push their idiocies like man made global warming, and wealth redistribution on everyone and they don't care as long as gays can marry and "obama" robs the rich who are only rich because they are theives and gives it to those who do nothing, et al ad nauseum. More hot air from the windbag in chief. Here's a question for you. What does it say when a president uses racism to get elected? Blacks voted roughly at 96% to elect this man. It tells me reverse racism is alive and well. Obama could not have been elected without that. When Union voters vote overwhelmingly for their self interest - as evidenced by the Government giving them a significant portion of GM, what does that say about those that elected Obama? That they are a collection of individuals who could care less about the country, and whose major concern is their own agenda. When a president tells salaried workers, bond and stock holders, to take what they get , NOTHING, and like it - what does that tell you?
Obama got no mandate. He barely won the popular vote. The country is not behind him as you think - yet you act like he won with Reagans landslide.
It didn't even come close.
That is not encouraging. And neither is your assessment of the republican party. For if they follow it, they are doomed to irrelevance. Better they should refuse to bargain, refuse to raise the debt ceiling, and hasten the end. For if republicans follow your "advice" then they are nothing but democrats - RINO's. That's been tried by McCain and Romney - It didn't work. Funny how your advice never changes and never works.
Frankly, I hope the end comes quickly. No more drawn out stupidity and wrangling. Just say no to any more debt and watch the whole hollow shell come crashing down. Then perhaps we can start over and get back to the essentials that made America.- 4 Replies to sstail94

In 2000, Al Gore -- a European-American -- received 90% of the African-American vote. So Obama's first 90% came because he had a (D) after his name*. I'm not surprised that six percent more voted for the first African-American candidate, because I remember when even staunchly Republican Greek-Americans contributed to Dukakis's campaign. You can't call racism the feeling of solidarity and national pride that Greek-Americans felt when the first of their group became a Presidential candidate.
*We could talk sometime about how the party of the Railsplitter squandered its historic advantage with blacks. -
Reagan popular vote, 1980: 43,903,230
Reagan popular vote, 1984: 54,455,472 (Lucky to have a weak opponent who won just a single state).
Obama popular vote, 2012: 61,910,594.
It took nearly 50 years to pay off the debt from the Revolutionary war, even though a lot of the war's costs were paid for as it happened.
We have borrowed EVERYTHING for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. How long will it take to pay off that debt - and when will we start? Taxes were raised and collected during the Revolutionary war. No taxes were raised and collected during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to support our troops - yet.
The only ones to contribute to that American effort were our troops who risked, and in some gases, gave their lives. You and i have not yet paid a single cent to even pay their salaries, or their food, clothing, and equipment. And this news for you on Veterans day, when you have at least some words of support for our veterans, even though you have yet to actually support them in deed and and pay. Our veterans deserve much better support than you have ever defended here. I'll wait to hear you say that you really do support paying enough taxes, on your own part, to actually support our troops, yourself, rather than borrow the money from others.
And I give my sincere thanks to those who have risked their lives to support our nation on this November 11th, in spite of the millions who remain unwilling to give anything of their own in support of and to pay the salaries of those brave soldiers.
