Hats off to the citizens in Red States

Hi Lang. It's good to see you here again!

I've though about that same issue. Why would blue staters want to increase their own taxes, bt red staters don't?

I think that it's due to a basic philosophical difference between blue staters and red staters. The blue state philosophy appears to be that we are a better and stronger country if we ALL have good safe jobs, good health carer, and a good education. and they are all willing to work together to make sure that that happens.

Red staters, however, think it more important to be self-sufficient, to support yourself, without help from anyone else. For them they only want the education and health care that they can provide for themselves, and they don't wan to have to help anyone else. For them, the country is stronger if everyone does what they want, whenever they want, with no interference or help from others.

    It's a basic philosophical difference.

    • The Red Staters are voting to use other people's money - why do you think the horrible 47% comment go such air play? It's too close to the secret formula. Look at California, for example - the pool of those that pay for what's enacted just keeps shrinking, and the group doing the asking keeps growing. Is that generosity or greed at work?

52% taxes on the top earners, do you think that sold best to the masses or the 1%? Before you answer, honestly if possible, where did all the marketing for higher taxes go this last 2 years - the rich or the lower class? Was it two years of soul searching or class warfare? It's a pretty easy answer.

    • Hey VT, you are a #$%$ if you think about it. You really believe red staters don't care about anyone but themselves? Wrong...but we smart people know that when you give things to people they come to expect it and not earn it. Just take for example even the working people for a company. If the company gives out hams for the holidays each year and then they stop the employees will be mad and think they entitled to a ham. It was not part of their compensation for working but over time they got used to the freebie...because someone else (the company in this case) was paying. Same with all the "give outs" by the government. People get used to it and expect it instead of fending for themselves.
