School Hired 'Gun' Leaves Loaded Weapon in Student Washroom

A prosecutor in Lapeer, Michigan says, “No harm, no foul,” after a charter school took the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) advice and hired a armed security guard who promptly left his handgun unattended in a student bathroom.

I've got a feeling this isn't going to turn out well, over all. Most cases we'll still have the shooting, but the first one killed will be the armed guard.

    • Far from the only one:

The loaded .45-caliber Glock handgun left in a crowded Denver International Airport bathroom belonged to a Drug Enforcement Administration agent based in Houston, according to records obtained on Tuesday.

The gun, with one round in the chamber and 10 in the magazine, was found by a traveler last week on the back of a toilet seat beyond Transportation Security Administration checkpoints, according to a Denver police report.

It was later returned to the agent, who was traveling on Southwest Airlines from Denver to Houston.

A passenger using a public restroom at El Paso, Texas, International Airport found a bit of a surprise: a gun left behind by a federal agent.

The firearm was found Tuesday morning past the security checkpoints, said Terry Sharpe, the airport's operations manager.

"It was found in the sterile area," he said. "The investigation is still in place and is ongoing with the airport and the TSA."

A secret service agent accidentally left her loaded handgun in the bathroom of Mitt Romney's charter plane on Wednesday.

    • In reality, the 'guard' should lose his privilege of carrying a loaded firearm. Safety violation.
