On Woods and Mickelson tax rates

Fact is Woods and Mickelson both made over $50mil each. Their total tax rate of about 50% is the same as tens of thousands of Californians making $1mil each. Those 0.5% should be angry, not the golfers who contribute little to the society than my garbage collectors.

    • If your going to talk about taxes and moving, ask yourself why this post keeps getting deleted?

Brought this subject back from Jan 25! Cuz all the posts, except this one, were deleted! This is a clear example of leftist bias! Bringing up the subject of "voting with your feet" when it comes to taxes is a big threat to Cali, just take a guess where Yahoo/HP is headquartered!! Retirement will force a move for us!! Also guess which is the biggest entitlement state???? New name has to be "most_deletes"!!

    • Last 25-30 posts have been deleted! Even when relevant to the days news! Sarkosy moves to London and Mickelson moves out of Cali, two stories yahoo doesn't want out! Remember, Yahoo CEO was/is an Obama bundler, raising over $400,000 for Obama!

    • I suppose Yahoo didn't like what I had to say so they deleted it. Thank goodness I saved my message for you to read again.

How interesting. everything I have read except yours says the tax burden on them was around 62% of their income not 50%. I guess all those others must be wrong… or you are lying again. Which is it?
Why would anyone want to give away almost 2/3 of their income and then smile about it?
Here is another tired old argument that liberals turn a blind eye to. If you are so all fired anxious to give your hard earned money to the government why don't you send them an extra check each year to show your sincerity and devotion to our beloved government?
You don't and you won't because you are a typical liberal hypocrite who loves to speak the talk but cannot walk the talk. It is established fact the Democrats and liberals give far less of the income to charities and the needy than conservatives. You will be-cry for everyone else to give their money will holding onto yours like a miser to his gold.
Liberal arguments are always full of holes, half-truths and out right lies. This is because their arguments if told truthfully would look ridicules and stupid and the ideas always results in failure.
Take California your state for instance. A strong liberal/socialist state. A task force recently estimated that California’s current total debt is estimated to be at least $167 billion and as much as $335 billion! Now let’s take Texas which is a freedom loving conservative state. This year the states is expected to have as much as a $11 billion dollars surplus from conservative fiscal policies.
FACT: Socialism is and always will be a failure.

Marginal Tax rate is not 50%- it is higher, particularly on the part of their compensation they can control- the income (investments are there whether they continue to work or not- Mickelson alluded to retiring or moving). Federal rate over 40% including new obama care tax, 13% state tax, both employee and employer portion of Medicare is about 4%- that is at least 57+%. Income that is taxed at lower than marginal rate is effectively just as high when you add in employer and employee side of social security, sales tax, property tax.

      I hope California goes broke.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • It's called voting with your feet....tax rates in the US have become uncompetitive....why do you think so many corp. have kept their money offshore?

    • Tiger Woods is still popular with my relatives in Orlando. He gave one of them a $1,400 tip for waiting his party's table. Whatever else he is, he is no cheapskate.

I never heard of this Mickleson guy who's whining about his taxes. Here's an idea though: fire your caddy and start toting your own golf clubs. Then they would become a "carried interest" subject to 14% income taxes like Mitt Romney's swag.
