$17.13, Rubio wants 2008 policies of small government back
" ... He and his party are now committed to the belief that their pre-crisis doctrine was perfect, that there are no lessons from the worst financial crisis in three generations except that we should have even less regulation. And given another shot at power, they’ll test that thesis by giving the bankers a chance to do it all over again. ... "
Time to take another hit from the water bottle of koolaid.
Rubio does appear to be better than the GOP candidates who ran for president in 2012. But that is not saying too much. We will have to see how his immigration push will play with his fellow Republicans, most of whom despise Mexicans.
The GOP ranchers, mansion dwellers, farmers, slaughter houses, subcontractors and maid service shops all need Chicanos to work in their businesses on the cheap. They love them but not to provide them decent wages, equal opportunity, voting rights and healthcare.
The Republicans will never get "small government" back, simply because we are not a small country. And, in fact, whenever the Republicans have been in power, the size of the government has increased at a much faster rate that it has when under the control of their opponents, over the past quarter century, at least. Instead, we need leaders who can effectively lead the government of the biggest and strongest country in the world.
