I do not own any HP stock, but I thought I would share my recent 'in the field', Peter Lynch style obsevation in the Detroit Metro area.
After a little research I decided that the HP model 8240 @ $1099 was the computer of choice for my family. So I started my
shopping at the local Best Buy store. (Wanted the no interest for a year loan) All sold out, they said "Come back tomorrow when the
delivery truck comes in". Next evening... all sold out again with Rain-checks on the next shipment. Called other Best Buys & Circuit
city, all sold out. Went to CompUSA in Dearborn. He said "Just sold my last one of 14 units that day but the Novi store has lots
of them". Fortunately he called ahead and reserved one for me for an hour to cover my drive. Hey, I got one. The salesman said
it was his last one of 34 units they sold in two days.
Sounds to me that HP has a winner in the lower priced Pavillion series and will soon see strong sales numbers in the next two quarters.
Look out Dell, Gateway, & Compaq.
