Hewlett-Packard Earnings -3: 1Q Orders $12.4B Vs $11.0B
Hewlett-Packard Co. (HWP) said said it is "quite pleased" with its first-quarter, adding that "many parts" of the company did well "in an extremely challenging environment." Hewlett-Packard called the quarter "a solid start to the year."
Net revenue in the U.S. was $5.2 billion, an increase of 21% from a year ago. In Europe, revenue totaled $4.2 billion, an increase of 8% from a year ago. Combined revenue from Asia Pacific, Canada and Latin America grew 14% to $2.4 billion.
Currency effects reduced the company's reported revenue growth of 15% by about 7 percentage points.
Orders for the first quarter were $12.4 billion, compared with $11.0 billion a year earlier. Orders in the U.S. rose 27% from a year ago to $5.3 billion. Orders from outside the U.S. increased 4% to $7.1 billion.
