Tuesday Morning Corporation Message Board

    They settled with the wench

Tuesday Morning Corp(TUES) and its former chief executive settled a discrimination lawsuit that alleged she was fired after developing breast cancer. Kathleen Mason, the head of the home-furnishings closeout retailer, was ousted in June 2012 after a 12-year run during which the company's stock fell nearly 60 percent.

Ms. Mason dropped her suit because the dispute "has been settled amicably," she said in a court filing on Thursday. Following mediation, both sides reached their settlement on March 31, mediator Michael P. Metcalf said in a separate filing.

Terms of the settlement weren't disclosed.

"We are pleased to have amicably resolved this matter with Ms. Mason and wish her well in her future endeavors," a company spokeswoman said in an email.
I hope she CHOKES on her extra money. I wouldn't have paid her a dime.

    • I agree that she didn't desire financial compensation for the horrible job she did. It's going to take a giant effort to recover lost ground from those 12 years of lame leadership. Perhaps the hiring of Ms Phillips continues the progress already being made. But it's gonna take time to undo damage done during Ms. Mason's tenure. My local store looks somewhat better, which is in fact a vast improvement over where that situation found itself around the first of this year. I've not talked with any of my former really good customers who even bother to shop Tuesday Morning now. Oh well.

Betcha Hobby Lobby ends up with a very serious "egg-in-face" situation from their lawsuit currently before the US Supreme court.

The local new tjMaxx/Home Goods store always looks wonderful and shops easily. Jeez, even their floors are handsome and beautifully maintained.

Is it possible that the Tuesday Morning model no longer works? We now have TJ Maxx, Ross, and Marshall's. TUES and its stores pale badly in comparison. I don't think I can think of any store as bland as TUES stores. Dull stores, not-so-competitive prices, and lack of any real excitement tells me that TUES will languish for years before falling precipitously. Even Goodwill stores look better than TUES.
