Netflix-- movies, TV shows, documentaries for $7.99/month

A movie downloads in a few seconds. Quantum leaps have been made in broadband. For $99 Apple sells a converter to make your TV full internet ready. New Big Screens are internet ready.

Netflix on the computer requires Firefox, Google chrome or Windows 8. Google chrome is a free download.

The menu thumbnails scroll fast and each has a brief description of the show.

Most movies and TV shows are very low grade-all TV and movies, not the Netflix selction. I tried Get the Gringo with Mel Gibson. Fast forward is quick. The movie was very bad, IMO. Canned it and in seconds loaded 'Escape From Alcatraz" with Clint Eastwood.

Netflix is creating its own programming, including a 13 show deal with Kevin Spacey.

I have met folks who only get Netflix and canned the cable.

The salient point is this....broadband speeds have made multiple quantum leaps, and TVs are now Internet ready or for the $99 Apple device converted to Internet ready.

As more folks discover this commercial free programming, market share will be taken from other delivery channels.

Reading the CC call transcript, one questioner noted the Dec SEC filing and the 8-10 mil affiliate fee in 2013. THAT IS INCORRECT. As noted in my last message the filing stated the affiliate fees would be $11 mil in 2012 then rise by $8-10 mil in 2013,2014,2015.. Using $9 mil as the yearly increase the affiliate fees would be $38 mil in 2015.

On a positive note, management forecast a 50% rise in retransmission fees for 2013 over 2012.
