That is the SEC fee. Always been there. Currently 0.0000169 of the principle. Only on the sales side.
But I sold today 1000 shares and they charged me $0.44 sales fee?However, do other firms charge the same SEC fees?
The "sales fee" has been around since 1933. Should be called the "SEC fee". All brokerages collect it for the SEC by law. Read about it at http://www.sec.gov/answers/sec31.htm
