Now that Apple is designing its own ARM SoC... when NVidia reveals the specs of TEGRA 3 to Apple, doesn't that info get right into the hands of the PA Semi group... giving them the heads up on the competition early on in the design cycle.
They could make course corrections and feature enhancements based on the TEGRA 3 specs.
Does NVidia have to ignore this and and proceed as normal ?? Otherwise, losing potential business if they don't ??
Jobs gave all CPU/GPU credit to in house group which was formerly PA Semi. In fact, what's behind the scene - in all case; ie. iPHone, IPods, and now iPAD - was Imagination Tech's core technologies, tailored fit and optimized for Apple's individual devices. Samsung, the manufacturer, may have also contributed to the fine-tuning.
PA Semi is supposedly comprised of top talents in the field, but I doubt Apple/PA Semi have the critical mass to pull it off 100% and to keep up. with competition. Apple will most likely continue to work with Imag.Tech as far as anyone knows.
