Using "Opportunity cost" as an excuse in this context doesn't make sense

If you lost business because someone can make a product better and cheaper, yes, that is saying opportunity cost is a factor, but saying you don't have the capacity to make a product isn't really opportunity cost, it's just lack of capacity.

    • Is everyone here from another planet?

Sony wanted a 64 bit CPU and a GPU. The PS3 has a 64 bit CPU so there will be no step backwards for PS4.

Nvidia DOES NOT HAVE A 64 bit CPU.

Nvidia was never going to get the deal for CPU + GPU.

Nvidia didn't lose the PlayStation CPU business IBM did.

      Is IBM WHINING or Nvidia?

Did Nvidia think they could have beat out AMD and supply Sony with a CPU and GPU?

If they don't have a 64 bit CPU then they can't pass on selling what they don't have.

Wake up and smell the BS Nvidia is shoveling.

      IMHO

    • And just how many decent graphics design engineers do you think there are in the world? You can't add them like just buying more cows to produce more milk. Beyond staff at NVDA, AMD, INTC, QCOM, APPL (and to a lesser extent the other more minor players: ARM, Samsung and mediatek), there probably isn't another 1% to identify. Adding capacity of a scarce commodity is a ridiculous argument.
