    • I never said they'll be the next Amazon. I said
they want to own the gifting category and they're
executing flawlessly. They have 8.3 million customers, they
can leverage those numbers to expand into different
areas. They have the exposure at every major site so
when the customer sees the flashing food basket when
he's ordering flowers for his wife's birthday, he'll
remember to go to Flowers when he wants to send his mom a
gourmet basket for mother's day. A smaller company can't
pull it off and stay profitable, that's why Amazon can
do it once they built their customers base.

You obviously have an agenda against this company.
I'm not sure if you're short or have a personal
problem with the company itself. But I think you lack
credibility on this board because of your lack of
      objectiveness.

    • I don't think it possible to make an acquisition
that will NOT affect a company's profit & loss GOING
FORWARD. Have you ever heard of acquisitions (under
purchase accounting) being referred to accretive or
dilutive to earnings? That is referring on the effect of
the acquisition on eps of the combined entity in
future reporting periods. Who cares about accounting
treatment -- I'm interested in future profitability.

    • I sure hope they get McCann on a person
appearance contract, great TV personality too, clear
speaking voice, gray and or no hair and a matching beard
and he does motivational speaking to. They couldn't
miss having him tag line each and every book they
promote..."Hi, I'm Jim McCann, you don't know me from Adam and I
know I'm hard to look at and understand, but please by
      this book".

    • Amazon making a "killing" htere's a novel
idea...since they have yet to profit. Oh yeah, you and others
believe this is the next Amazon....probably true, they
won't make a profit either...and FLWS stock will never
reach their heights...but thanks for the stupid coments
      anyway.

    • In a negative market, this stock is doing great.
The acquisition today for only $18 million is great.
I love it. I still think that Amazon is going to
swallow these guys by $30, but it will get there with or
without them very soon. This stock is ready to explode. I
      am loading up, baby.

    • picture here? Flowers wants to be the one stop
shop for gift items. They are leveraging their name
and infrastructure to be the premier gift place on
the internet. Would you believe Amazon be selling
toys last year? They are and they're making a killing.
Why? They are leveraging their name to be the one stop
shop for anything you can order online.

Speaking of Amazon, the only category that they don't
      provide is flowers and gifts...

      As far as the
purchase today, McCann hinted that they had a boat load of
cash (I think $250 million) on Cavuto and that they
would be using it for possible acquisition. When the
stock rebounds and truly reflects the value of this
company, they will use it as currency for future
      acquisitions.

Don't read much into today's moves. Low volume with
some jittery hands. CEO will speak tomorrow at the
Credit Suisse/First Boston conference. If CSFB comes out
with a coverage, say bye bye to the teens
      forever.

    • for millions and millions and then try to sell
food products. Flowers = Food? What a waste of time
and the lack of cohesive direction here should be
concerning whether or not this is good purchase? Oh, do they
      have Crow?

    • This ends up as a balance sheet item. Cash out
assets in. Basics. If goodwill was paid we will see a
small portion ending up at the P&L. Cant beleive people
investing in the stock market without this kind of
      knowledge.

    • FLWS is way undervalue now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • heading north.
