manu- sarah is right- if you don't print out pix on silver paper and leave them on a disk they will start to degrade after about 5 years. now you can buy gold CD's and silver CD's.don't ask me where but i'll bet someone on this board can tell you. in fact, i'll bet many people on this board can give all the facts about digital pix and how to preserve them. all the in's and out's.
I say that because a CD-ROM doesn't contain silver. It's an aluminum disc with a clear plastic coating. The aluminum is stamped with the data to be read and has a reflective surface. There ain't no silver to be found there.
However, it IS true that CD-RW discs are composed of several metals, including silver, indium, tellurium, and antimony.
DVDs are aluminum, as well, in case that was going to be your next question.
I'm certain that Celine, or at least Rene (her husband), buys numerous baubles of silver and gold with the dollars that she makes as an entertainer. Hmmmm....maybe she could put a clause in her contract that she only be paid in silver bullion? I'm sure Kaz and Jason would be in favor of that....
