OMG what a joke. Obamacare's emphasis on preventative healthcare will negatively impact the TAVI sales as reimbursement rates are expected to be negatively impacted by government driven healthcare that prioritizes a younger aged market sector stressing preventative cardiovascular healthcare vs late stage last resort healthcare. The TAVI market is becoming limited by such pressures in the marketplace and the only TAVI market that exists will go to THV companies that have an implantable heart valve that can be repositioned such as Jena Valve vs the type of valve that is balloon deployed with doctors hoping they placed it correctly so as not to block off coronary ostia in the aortic position. These old non-positionabl valve designs have the implanting doctors literally crossing their fingers when they inflate that deployment balloon hoping they placed it correctly. Guess which type of valve EW sales, better yet call their investment group and ask if the Sapien valve is repositionable when deployed. Jena valve's design will capture the bulk of the market share with this product feature of being repositionable at time of implant. Which one would you want put in you?
Repositionable vs. non-repositionable......that is the question.....
Whether 'tis Nobler in the heart to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of outrageous poor placement,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of doctors with fingers crossed,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end
The Heart-ache, and the thousand Natural shocks of misplaced implanted valves
That Flesh is heir to? 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished that a repositionable implantable THV would have been used!
