Roche isn't moving, Wafergen volume up 4x's & 17% for the month
Roche and Applied biosystems have been turning in weak performances while companies like Illumina (ILMN) and Wafergen (WGBS) have been on fire. Illumina's buy of Helixis will open up their small lab market, but I'm really excited about Wafergen. Infact, I think Wafergen could be the next Illumina. Take a look at this:
Wafergen has 4x's the volume and 17% growth in the last month. The bump comes after Wafergen announced the launch of it's commercial program. They've got an great platform called Smartchip. They've combined micro-arrays with real-time PCR, and have a 30K chip coming out soon.
Once Wafergen gets placement and a piece of market share, things are going to move fast. I think it's entirely possible Illumina might make a move to buy them as early as next summer.
Personally, I'm pulling out of Roche and playing Wafergen. It's heating up.
