    Stock split

Why don't they split this. We have been waiting for a long time for this.

    • You must be joking. Why would anyone of sane mind think a stock split will benefit them? Especially a $50 stock? Companies rarely split their shares regardless of the price per share. In the BAD old days of fixed commissions and odd-lot differentials, it was sometimes beneficial to keep share prices under about $100. That's no longer the case. The odd-lot differential has gone the way of the dinosaur. It's now common to buy fractional shares of higher priced stocks. Instead of entering the order for a specified number of shares, you can just as easily enter the order for a fixed dollar amount. The order will be filled with full and fractional shares at whatever limit price is specified. A high share price doesn't seem to have hurt BRK. At $177,000 per share (plus, plus, plus), the stock doesn't seem to have hit a price ceiling. There are now dozens of stocks that have prices in the hundreds and thousands of dollars per share. Moreover, many companies that used to pay dividends with stock (i.e. 105-for-100 split) seem to have stopped doing so. You're living is a different era. Welcome to 2014. Happy New Year!

    • How does a stock split help one bit in the long run?
