Tns afternoon I visited thr IRS office trying to get an answer as to hiow I should report to the IRS trhe MLP distributions that ny Broker shows as not reported to the IRS. COULD NOT GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER. Does any of you with previous experience tell wme where and if are these eventually reported on the 1040 ? I would appreciate it .Thank you in advance, Old Nick
The K-1 that you get in the mail will show you where(what line) to report. If you get a K-1 for an IRA, just toss it in a drawer. Do not put on your tax return. There is an exception but no need to consider unless you hold multi thousand shares.
What in the name of all that's holy are you doing asking the IRS questions? And in person. And for something that's extensively covered in a thousand places online. And yet, here you are, posting, in a fashion, on that very same internet. That don't make sense.
