Not so significant, imo. Smaller than the SPR, in fact. Based on the reported size, it would be enough to power the world for 8 days or the US for 28 days. When finds this size are reported as very significant, it is a reminder that peak oil is here.
It is you who miss the point. These days this small find is touted as a major new discovery, yet it would only supply the world for a few days. You say it is one of many, however the world currently burns more than 4 times as much oil as is discovered and that ratio is widening. Discoveries have lagged consumption for the last 40 years.
