As an active buyer on Ebay I am sick and tired of bidding on items with a reserve fee especially when there is no competing bidder so that my bids don't rise to cover the reserve price. If a seller wants a minimum price they should use it as their starting price. Otherwise bidding is becoming a complete waste of time.
It looks like the issue of raising reserve fees has been sidetracked until this store fee increase issue subsides in the next few weeks. Then Ebay will be able to focus on what irritates buyers.
Hell, they might, but it would be just another nail in Ebay's coffin. Ebay has already chased off enough buyers and sellers, with the last fee hikes, and that may be the straw that broke the camel's back. Meg and Bill would be totally stupid to raise anymore fees, unless they're looking to chase more people away. The fall out from the last fee hike won't be complete, for another month or so, because some sellers ended items, and then relisted them on the 21st, to get another month at the cheaper rates.
I am surprised at the number of responses this post has received. It surprises me that so many buyers on Ebay other than myself have run into the same problems I have. Maybe this is a cause for Ebay to investigate because it could be greatly curtailing transactions and in turn curtailing GMV. If you step back and think about it you will notice that once a buyer has placed a bid in an auction the buyer attention is focused on that auction until it closes, thereby restraining a buyers willingness to bid for a similar item during that period of time. If the buyer loses that auction the buyer usually then becomes frustrated and has lost interest in bidding in a subsequent auction. This then becomes a lost transaction for EBAY. EBAY NEEDS TO RAISE RESERVE FEES.
Your Frustration is that you would like to take home the item at the cheapest price possible and you dont care a Da....about what the Seller gets for the Item.
As long as your happy Da,,,, the Seller, thats his problem!!!!
I have closed 5 stores and cancelled opening 2 more for third parties, there are no buyers out there, there are only empty pockets trying to get what they can not afford!!!!!
Not only does Ebay needs to raise reserve fees on auctions, Ebay should raise listing fees on stores to the same level that they are on auctions. If a store lister also lists on Ebay auctions those items automatically become listed in that persons store for FREE. Ebay has now also listed stores on shopping .com, thereby guiding buyers from shopping .com to Ebay stores this has value and should be paid for by Listers in Ebay stores.
"Raise the fees higher" where else can a seller get so many buyers for 5 to 10 cents !
