What about CHK as a possible takeover target. They appear to be getting there debt under control with the recent sale and are sitting on a huge amount of NG. It's just a matter of time that NGV's take off. MHO.

Selling of the oil sands interest will give MRO more cash to aquire other companies. The Bakken is very active in M&A. I think they will take over another company vs being taken over themselves.

I hope they don't get taken over, at least not until toward the end of fossil fuel demand. Not all takers are that great. I don't really want them to get bigger either, just increasing their value and dividends every year and i'll be happy.

Anything is possible, maybe a large merger of like companies, such as APC or DVN. Wonder why COO was let go?, make room for another executive from said mentioned companies?
