Is there a message board on Yahoo which discusses economic issues?
A report about the employment data released today notes:
"The (unemployment ) rate declined from 8.1 percent because the number of people who said they were employed soared by 873,000". Also, they note, "The number of people with part-time jobs who wanted full-time work rose 7.5 percent to 8.6 million." But the report also notes that part-time workers are considered as "employed" for their calculation of the unemployment rate. So that equals about 600,000 new part-time workers...who I would assume are without benefits or a full living wage.
So does this mean that only 273k full-time jobs were added?
My concern is that does this indicate that the new general business model may be trending to an emphasis on part-time workers, rather than providing a living wage with benefits?
A referral to a Yahoo board to discuss further is appreciated.
