Recent polls have shown that the American public is in favor of legalizing marijuana for both medicinal and recreational purposes. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will not reschedule marijuana as a lower class drug in order meet this demand. Why is that? By rescheduling marijuana, members of the DEA would be losing job security. They are ensuring their own agendas with no regard to public opinion. If the people of the United States do not consider a substance to be a nuisance to our society, we should have the right make it legal regardless of the DEA's opinion. This agency is here to serve the people, not the other way around. Please take the power to set drug schedules from the Drug Enforcement Administration and make it an issue solved through public ballot.
