You don't have to buy a stock in order to short it, so I'm going to go with no. "the real money", if you mean institutional money, hasn't shown up yet and won't any time soon. the impact of more people making markets in this stock, if that happens, is likely a continuous but minor downward force on the price. I can't see too many MM's getting very net long in this stock. I can see them getting very net short on any kind of panic or bad news though.
of course we dont have to buy first to short but it seems with the computers the way they manipulate the markets is they buy and drive up the price on one side artificially and then profit on the way down. You can only do that with alot of liquidity
