AS MWE built on its' "First Mover Advantage" or Nathan Bedford Forrest's, "The Firstest with the mostest" in the Marcellus I kept thinking that it would be nice for MWE to grow up to be the EPD of the NE..and that is a BIG DEAL! When it comes to natural gas liquids all pipelines in the SW lead to EPD's Mont Belvieu,TX, on the Houston Ship Channel where EPD has 2400 acres of fractionation towers, chemical plants etc...another 600 acres is waiting to be built..and there's an export terminal now shipping out 90million barrels/yr of propane etc. EPD is also the largest midstream MLP. Well, here comes MWE and with the KMP JV getting ready to invade EPD's home turf. MWE has clearly nailed the Midstream Leadership in the NE and is now thinking of "Going for Gold " in TX and LA. Remember that between the Haynesville, ,Granite Wash, etc etc MWE already produces lots of natural gas liquids in the SW..Add in 200,000 barrels/day coming though the JV pipeline and MWE has a great basis for four x 100,000 b/d fractionation towers at a plant close to the Gulf for export sales. Other Midstream MLPs in that area being challenged are Targa and the DCP Enterprise, the Phillips 66/Spectra Energy JV that is the GP of DPM. For MWE to JV this with KMP, one of the industry giants, is also impressive. EPD is pretty much the creation of the late Dave Duncan n , and KMP's Kinder just might want to build a big midstream presence, too. I was also impressed when MWE's Semple was asked during the CC how this would impact the Bluegrass pipeline proposal.."There's only room for one of us" was the amazing response..So,here we go. The next three years with MWE are. Going to be rather exciting!!
