    Lots of Pumping (and Dumping?)

Phoenix is almost exclusively funded by Pell Grants, VA benefits, and Stafford Loans to a group of consumers who are increasingly catching on to the predatory nature of University of Phoenix. Apollo also has at least one major lawsuit pending from its stockholders, through Hagens-Berman. Apollo may be able to get away with its predatory businesses practices a while longer, but I doubt it. The Government Accountability Office report, the Harkin Commission report, the recent SEC investigation, the mass layoffs and campus closings, the accreditation problems, and the stockholder lawsuit are the tip of the iceberg. What happens if all the state retirement funds start divesting?

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • I made money by investing in the Future, not in the past, all your posts explains why APOL dropped, but now its time for turnaround.
BTW, many of your "facts" are non issues.
Also, you said you aren't shorting APOL but selling out your position, so you had a great chance to sell today and go away, why do you still bother to write here?

      just curious.

The University of Phoenix continues to use aggressive measures to recruit students who are not likely to graduate--and who are likely to be saddled with debt they cannot repay.

Apollo Group still relies almost exclusively (80-90%) on government funding.

APOL still has at least one major lawsuit pending, and possibly several more.

The SEC will not confirm they have stopped investigating APOL.

University of Phoenix still has accreditation issues with the Higher Learning Council.

I am bothered because states and state teacher and public service retirement funds continue to maintain their holdings, despite what we know about University of Phoenix and its predatory practices. These investors, in effect, are undermining their own professions.

        Sentiment: Strong Sell
