How does anyone here know that there is shorting going on here, at least at the levels approaching the pump and dumping? I believe there is a decent chance that millions of shares will be divested in the next year, from state funds, public service retirement funds, and teacher retirement funds. Take a look at the institutional investors yourself, and ask yourself how low the price will go if this divestment occurs.
Um b/c short interest has doubled in the last month. Why would an institution hold these shares until the stock dropped 70% and then divest? Doesn't make sense. These are institutions, not small investors. You would also see selling off with increased volume.
States, public service retirement funds, and teacher retirement funds would divest because there is political pressure, and because $17 a share is better than $10 or less a share. Guess we'll see who owns what in the next quarterly report.
