"Oil plume stretches from Marshall, Michigan, to Lake Michigan in Saugatuck 87 miles. Entire Kalamazoo River Watershed damaged or destroyed."
It appears that you do not know what a watershed is, or what a watershed map looks like. The crude flowed into a creek, which flows into the Kalamazoo River. A very discrete, definite area. The watershed, on the other hand, is a comparatively huge land mass, containing farm drains, creeks, and tributaries of all sizes, probably 99% of which are untouched by the spill.
