Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. Message Board

    Potential Suitors

Everyone mentions Nestle and Coke as the most likely suitors for Green Mountain. The recent Fool article drops names like Starbucks, Jarden, and Sara Lee (personally I don't think any of those three are candidates since Starbucks and Sara Lee would have a hard time justifying to it own shareholders why they are also selling competitior's coffee as well as their own. Jarden just wants to stay in electronics).

Most everything that has happened at Green Mountain over the past few years HAS NOT been predicted by the board in advance (save for surging sales). That is why I think the likely suitor(s) will mostly be companies that have not been thought about before.

Some examples are Campbell Soup, Con Agra, General Mills, and Kellogg. Unilever (which has been mentioned on this board several times) is also another likely suitor. These packaged food companies are always on the prowl for acquisitions.

I believe that GMCR will have to complete the VH deal before anything happens. There is probably enormous tax ramifications that all parties benefit from and GMCR wants the VH deal to close by the end of this year.

I don't believe the Nestle rumors for one second. That was the rumor on Sept. 27th as we were breaking 38 on the upside. But I do believe that many companies have GMCR in their scope and when one fires the first bid, you will probably see bids from other companies as well( in numbers comparable to the PR releases from law firms).

This is all my opinion. Not everyone will agree with it. Please don't make trading decisions based on it.

    • And while we are at let's revisit your other "no opinion" rants on US Airways and Las Vegas Sands.....

US Airways - May 25th: in six months $6.45 ....the stock is above 9....you have six weeks to get this right.

Las Vegas Sands - at $26.69 you were pontificating the stock only had a few points upside left, then it would crater. How does 38 feel right now?

So when you yell that GMCR is going down the tubes, you can understand why I have a difficult time listening to you, right?

    • Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong...

0 for 7 .....try more guesses since you think you know me so well. I'm not sure how amusing this is to the board....maybe I am the only one that doesn't have you on ignore.

<You are one of those hypersensitive Asian know-it-all Berkeley graduate types. Still in your early twenties, you have an opinion on everything and practical skills in almost nothing. You have zero tolerance for dissent and would rather make it personal than address the issue under debate inquisitively and dispassionately>

    • Nut,

Please go back over all your posts on this board since Sept 28 and convince me again that you have "no opinion" on this stock.

No opinion that you think there is fraud or no fraud?

It's difficult to believe that you don't have an opinion on anything when most of your posts scream your opinion loud and clear.

While you are at it, I will offically nominate you as the board spelling police chief. Hope you chastise the short posters as well as.

Keep up the good work Nut. Longs, I tried...I gave it my best. Show respect, I'll give you respect....but I guess I now have an enemy who counts my words.

    • So much for refraining from insults, huh?

You really don't know me, but I think I may know who you are. Please allow me.

You are one of those hypersensitive Asian know-it-all Berkeley graduate types. Still in your early twenties, you have an opinion on everything and practical skills in almost nothing. You have zero tolerance for dissent and would rather make it personal than address the issue under debate inquisitively and dispassionately.

Close enough? Your contributions to this board have provided ample material to paint this portrait, somewhat blurry as it may be.

    • So which one are you?

<Most "expert" forecasters are idiots. The percentage among uninformed speculators and wishful thinkers is even higher>

    • LOL, I'm not the one going postal here! Do me a favor and count the words in each of your posts and compare that to mine... now who's the shrill one?

The fact that I don't have an opinion on matters unknown is actually not the same as badgering people. It's a sign of wisdom. Most "expert" forecasters are idiots. The percentage among uninformed speculators and wishful thinkers is even higher.

    • Nut,

I was completely civil to you in this conversation. You couldn't go 20 minutes without having to fire off the insults. Do you now know why most longs on this board think that most shorts on this board are complete lunatics. You proved it and I didn't even ask you to go postal on me. Maybe that is the only way you feel comfortable communicating.

I think Ben is the only short that can carry on a legitimate conversation without letting his emotions get involved. I don't agree with all his points but you can at least talk with him.

You have no opinion? Then why are you here? To badger people?

The fact is that the SEC has launched an inquiry, not an investigation (yet). It's not semantics, it's FACT.

And I'm not allowed to speculate on buyouts, because YOU say so?

      Give me a break!

I tried Nut...why did you have screw up with somebody who was at least will to talk to you? Agree to disagree? You wouldn't even commit to that.

<I have no fu[king opinion, okay? Unlike you, I operate with facts. Whether you call inquiry or investigation - that's semantics. The fact is - the SEC has installed a probe up GMCR's a$$, and until it's out you might as well quit speculating about buyouts.>

    • So in your opinion, what do you think?

      Fraud or no fraud?

Again, no investigation yet...only an inquiry. Why do you keep making that mistake if you are only the messanger?

Nut...you better spell check every post you make from here on out because this board is not going to let you forget it...lol

<Read again what I posted - I never assumed anything. Nobody is going to do due diligence (note the spelling) while there's an ongoing securities fraud investigation.>

    • it's pure fantasy to think that GMCR will be bought....the very fact that it had split 2x in the last 3 years.

Talk about "rich" in every sense of the word! Sorry to burst your bubble! Get real!

    • I agree wholeheartedly that as soon as someone fires the first shot, there's likely to be a bidding war. For when that happens, I'm making sure I'm well-stocked in the popcorn department (the kind you eat, not the kind that posts here and makes you puke...)
