A shrinking piece of the pie?

Barron's scathing article on GMCR might put a dent in GMCR's stock price Monday morning. The fact is,the k-cup pie is getting larger, the problem is, GMCR slice of that pie is rapidly diminishing.

if in 2013 that pie is $1 billion and GMCR has a 95% market share, their sales are $950 million

if in 2014, that pie grows 20% to $1.2 billion, and their market share drops to 75%, their sales would fall from $950 million to $900 million.

    • I really have a hard time believing that a company who raised its forecast last quarter would all of a sudden succumb to marketshare losses of the K-cup (in just 3 months I mean give me f'n break)................T.he other day analysts starting bashing this stock and it opens much lower yet it rebounds back to near its open (sounds to me like they were letting their friends in cheaper).................There is absolutely no reason for an anaylst to come forward only days before earnings other than to scare you with a news piece like Barrons. If you never read the article you would never think twice about selling - but they put one thing out there and all of a sudden there is panic setting in :) Personally I hope the price goes down over the next two trading days before it explodes on wed evening.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Are you short, did you not reads IBD Green Mountain is the number 1 stock. Its amazing how shorts pick up the negative and they dont look at the positive.

Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR) is No. 1 on the IBD 50 list of top-rated stocks and is among a group of six elite companies that will report earnings this week.

The IBD 50 showcases companies with proven earnings and revenue growth records as well as strong Relative Strength.

Green Mountain is showing unusual strength and is No. 1. The coffee and tea company continues to rack up strong profits with sales of its proprietary Keurig single-cup brewing systems and coffee/tea pods to supermarkets and partner Starbucks (SBUX).

Green Mountain reports fiscal third-quarter earnings after the market close Wednesday. It's expected to see a 48% jump in earnings per share to 77 cents, and 13% higher revenue at $981.9 million.

      Shares dipped 0.5% Friday.

    • The Fact is GMCR partnerships is growing with the dominate players. Those players are expanding world wide and will grow not only their own companies but GMCR. Any and all knock offs will become a distant memory when expansions occur.

Investors are looking LONG term not short, and it's clear GMCR is a winner. That's not from an investors point a view that from a partnership / alliance point.
