I think it is interesting, this whole issue with Mo-99 shortages. This is something I recently learned about. One reason for the shortage is that isotopes made in other countries are sometimes produced with (weapons grade) enriched uranium. And this is a big problem potentially since we don't want it falling into the wrong hands. The US won't allow use or import of such isotopes-- this limits the total available supply.
