I reworked all of my data last night and I think if Garmin has any contribution from marine they have a shot at posting a buck a share in earnings. If so I think that they have to guide up to 3.25. Late in the afternoon I sold the short side of my straddle and rolled my profits and a little more into some calls to go along with my shares that are not into long term profit yet. My key indicator was that we did not have Rob telling us that profits would be great but that it would be down hill from here. That makes me think Stevie has been buying all the shares we have been selling between 66 and 88 and plans on selling them back to us for a handsome profit. Larry
Yeah, I too was kinda expecting Samuelson to issue his quarterly GRMN diss, and agree it's likely good news he didn't. I will be interested to see if he has the nerve to show at the CC tomorrow, or if his "work" on GRMN was only temporary. What a schmuck, too bad RIMM makes him a hero.
Watching the activity after-hours....still quite a bit of volatility which leads me to believe there will be sharp move to the UP-side tomorrow...just before earnings announcement.
NO WAY will I be using my core shares of GRMN to trade. The NVT news and GRMN after-hours leads me to believe I can make a small profit out of the gate, so using a conditional limit "buy" with a stop limit "sell" might do the trick in getting some lunch money...while standing pat.
I think 3.25 is a bit high but I think for safety, they will guide "at least 3.0". That is already a big jump from 2.7. I know GRMN result will be fantastic but don't know if the number is good enough for the street.
