New 737 crashes breaks into sections NTSB investigation , all is well, no passengers died
"It apparently failed to reach the runway and fell into the sea," said the spokesman, Edward Sirait.
He said the Boeing 737-800 Next Generation plane was received by the airline last month and was declared airworthy. The plane originated in Bandung, the capital of West Java province, and had landed in two other cities on Saturday prior to the crash.
"We are not in a capacity to announce the cause of the crash," Sirait said, adding that the National Safety Transportation Committee was investigating.
Those on board recalled being terrified as the plane slammed into the water Saturday afternoon.
"The aircraft was in landing position when suddenly I saw it getting closer to the sea, and finally it hit
Hard to get excited about this crash with their safety record. Don't see too much risk to BA except from the sharks in the water. This will be weather and or pilot error. Sully had far less sink rate than this guy had.
Here’s Another Hurdle For Boeing’s Top Institutional Shareholders
Just when Boeing was cutting the last strands of red tape following its 787 Dreamliner debacle, the Federal Aviation Administration has ordered the examination of some 1,000 Boeing aircraft, due to issues stemming from a faulty component that could cause pilots to lose control of the aircraft if it failed. ”We are issuing this AD (airworthiness directive) to prevent premature failure of the attach pins, which could cause reduced structural integrity of the horizontal stabilizer to fuselage attachment, resulting in loss of control of the airplane,” the FAA said in the directive issued on Monday. the problem could cost Boeing up to $10.1 million to fix, and affects the 737 models of aircraft.
Just a bit of history, Not trying to redesign or anything , just a note, U know where that 737 broke apart is where the WW2 B-17 had problem so they added a support across the back of the plane topside from the tail to the fusalouge for strenght. Look at a old photo of B-17 and u will see.
Pictures show it it shallow water with lots of rocks above waterline. Sully landed in deep water(no pun intended) which would explain why this one had the breakage. Two entirely different situations upon landing in the water
