MTGE is a hybrid mREIT, it should be doing better

Other hybrids like IVR and TWO are doing relativley well because people understand that their portfolio is well diversified with GSE MBS and non- GSE securities, so any action the FED does is mitigated by these other investments

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • With its diversified portfolio on GSE backed and non backed MBS's, MTGE should be maintaining its strong net interest spread when it reports its 2nd Qtr. financials

      Sentiment: Buy

    • I guess Gary Kain isn't the master magician of REITs that Wilkus portrayed to be. Don't see Kain putting on his big boy pants and buying a few shares on open market showing shareholder support. But why should he with all the cheaper Options handed to him.

    • Fav, no it shouldn't. It has low yield long duration MBS. And a boat load of MBS TBA's.

Those low yield long duration MBS are getting slaughtered on price.
Look at the MBS action today.
Those TBA's are going to kill their taxable income.

For your own good, you should dig more at what individual mreits hold.

      • Yes it should.......Today Deuitch Bank re-itereated a Buy recomendation. The analyst noted that there was $0.45 in undistributed income left over at the end of the 2nd Qtr '13. Further MTGE has one of the strongest balance sheets of the mREITS with minimal leverage of 3.66:1. Finally MTGE's net interest spread of 2.01 as of 3/31/13 was if not the highest one of the highest spreads in the mREIT industry

        Sentiment: Strong Buy
