Dividend payment for Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB De CV is and has been on or about 1 percent (28 cents last annual payment) for several years.
The American Walmart is not much better, but has averaged on or about 2.20 percent in past several years.
A 2.2 percent dividend for next payment would be on or about 60 cents (US money) and appears a feasible payout to shareholders, BUT IT COULD EVEN BE HIGHER WITHOUT CAUSING FINANCIAL HARM TO Walmart-Mexico.
Uhm as a practice you just don't go out a willy nilly up your DIV. good firms payout a reasonable DIV. and then use excess cash to pay down debt, buy capital goods and increase advertising or community services.
By the way Walmex paid a special DIV. last year ! Did you forget about that? This is a growth company not a slow growth cash cow!
Wal-Mart Mexico Corporation must be given credit for continuing to grow and increase share value. Regardless, this would and should not affect the dividend amount paid annually. Payment of last dividend was $ .2785 which amounts to ONE PERCENT. As per info distributed the corporation has more cash than debt and that speaks good for management. It is also reality that corporate management across spectrum of corporations get comfortable with how available monies are spent in recognizing shareholders. Too frequently anymore, dividends to stockholders, even when possible, is retained and the reasons for not increasing a dividend are easily noted for what they are - management wants to keep as much money for their pet projects and too often to accommodate compensations/perks important to them. ONE PERCENT DIVIDEND IS NOT DEFENDABLE. IT SHOULD BE PAYING AT LEAST 2.20 PERCENT AS WITH WALMART USA. It can do this and still promote the increase in share value.
