I bought MAS five years ago for the dividend, and I decided to hold through the decline. I'm finally back to a capital gain, and I look forward to re-growth of the dividend. MAS has a long corporate history of growing dividends, and as the economy/housing market continues to improve, so will profits and dividends. There is more sour negativity on this board than on any that I've encountered. MAS is a good company with a good product line, and it got caught in an economic debacle that was out of its control. I look forward to the usual barrage of angry criticism that comes in response to any positive view of MAS on this board.
Yes, it is a good company that was caught in a bad sector in a bad economy. I collected a decent dividend for a couple of those years, and now have a small gain that will grow larger. I could have sold at a loss, but didn't need to offset a capital gain, so was comfortable waiting. It doesn't require "gall" to make a statement, if one has a reasoned basis for the statement. And I think you meant "You're" rather than "Your." The latter is a possessive pronoun - what you wanted was the nominative pronoun-verb contraction. I'm sure you have an investment strategy of your own, which involves lots of ???????????s and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!s.
