Quarter million dollar settlement to DOI

I was thinking about changing my insurance coverage to Mercury Insurance until I saw the article in the LA Times that Mercury had agreed to pay 300,000.00 in fines to the Department of Insurance for poor claims handling in 2004-2005.

I also saw the other comment comparing them to "Walmart". IS there really a problem?

    • I’m an employee and a share holder and I can honestly say there is no problem. With any company there are positions that are less than perfect; however I am unaware of any "slaves". I don’t know the details or the settlement, but I can tell you that Mercury has grown so big so fast that it was unable to effectively keep up. There's been a lot of changes to workflow and although not perfect there on the right track. The only people complaining about their jobs are the ones where were set in their ways and didn't like the changes that were going to befit the customer.
