I work for an insurance company. What we see lately is that customers are allowing their policies to temporarily lapse, then re-new. Not sure if it's intentional, but I'm sure a lot of folks will risk being without coverage for maybe a couple of months at a time, especially if they rationalize that they've never used their insurance therefore risking not having it may be worth the savings.
It's still only a few months, but it might be the start of a trend.
